Bytorsskug (colloquially The City) is the largest permanent settlement on The Overland, with a population of roughly 1.3 million. It sits 9 km south of the southern edge of Myligast.

The city grew organically over a long period into a roughly circular footprint. Life there differs notably from life in outer settlements (details undeveloped).

Bytorsskug lies in the southern hemisphere, just south of the equator (see Cosmology).

Known districts:

• Academy district — northernmost; always closest to Myligast; seat of government and home of The Academy
• Industrial District
• Trade District — central
• Several residential districts of varying socio-economic character

Other districts likely exist but are undeveloped (Open).

Of ~1.3M citizens, 19 are Chorus Mages. 12 hold state positions (including 3 elected officials at the second-highest tier of government). 2 are unregistered; the government counts 17.
